I’m about to go out and foray for Christmas gifts (I’m horrible, I wait till the last minute, but, hey, I blame finals!) and I was doing a little last minute internet research and stumbled onto this list at About’s Frugal Living Site. All of the gifts save people money, and many of them help to save the environment. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Reusable batteries and battery charger. I’ve using rechargeable AAA batteries for years now, but I just broke down and picked up some rechargeable AA batteries. They are worth the investment
- CFL lightbulbs. Some people out there are too cheap to make the switch. Help enlighten them by giving them a set of these bulbs!
- A Sigg or Klean Kanteen reusable water bottle. Okay I’m throwing brand names around there, but metal bottles are better for you than plastic. They hold up longer if you treat them right (I’ll be investing in a Klean Kanteen because I’m too hard on my stuff to keep an aluminun bottle in one piece).
And here are a few suggestions that aren’t on the list:
- A copy of Your Money or Your Life by Joe Dominguez, Vikki Robin and Monique Tilford. Now in a brand new edition, this book helps you evalute your time and energy in order to see if your job is really worth it. Books like these are increasingly important in these difficult times.
- A Laptop Lunchbox. I still haven’t purchased one of these, but I amĀ fascinated by them.
